FutureRail
FutureRail is the joint venture between engineering firms Mott MacDonald and SMEC, formed to advise on major public transport projects.
Background
FutureRail was engaged by Transport for NSW on the More Trains, More Services programme — a $4.3 billion, ten-year investment to make the Sydney train network faster, more reliable and higher capacity. Its remit spans transport planning and modelling, feasibility studies, business case support, design and procurement advice, and delivery support. FR2 supports that advisory role from the construction side, testing schemes against how they would be built.
Projects
Work FR2 has contributed to involving FutureRail, as listed on Our Experience:
- SCATL — Sutherland to Cronulla Active Transport Link — constructability technical memo
- Zero Emission Buses — Depot Definition Design — assisting Transport for NSW with transitioning the NSW bus fleet to zero emissions
