Sydney Metro

Sydney Metro is the NSW Government agency delivering Australia’s largest public transport program — a standalone, fully automated metro network separate from the suburban rail system.

Background

Sydney Metro West is a new 24-kilometre metro line between Westmead and the Sydney CBD, with stations confirmed at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street. Because much of the alignment is new-build rather than brownfield, the planning problem shifts from working around a live railway to sequencing enabling works, staging and interfaces with the existing network where the two meet.
