The programme
Fast Rail is the NSW programme investigating faster regional rail connections between Sydney and the state’s regional centres. FR2 contributed alongside WSP for Transport for NSW.
Work at this stage of a programme is about testing what is deliverable before a route or staging strategy is committed — how corridors could be built and upgraded, what has to happen to the existing railway to accommodate it, and what that means for the programme. Getting constructability and staging into the conversation early is what keeps later delivery from inheriting decisions that cannot be built economically.
