Hornsby Maintenance Centre Facility Upgrade

The Hornsby Maintenance Centre Upgrade — Roads 1 to 3 package covers upgrade works to three maintenance roads at the Hornsby Maintenance Centre, a Sydney Trains fleet maintenance facility.

FR2 involvement

FR2 produced the Reference Design Constructability Report for Roads 1 to 3 — a buildability review of the reference design, carried out while the design could still change, testing the proposed works against how they would actually be delivered inside an operating maintenance facility.

Delivery context

A maintenance centre is a working asset: the roads being upgraded are the same roads the fleet depends on, so the works have to be staged around the facility’s own maintenance programme rather than around a clear site. That makes the sequence of road handovers, and what remains available at each stage, the governing constraint on the delivery strategy.
